Verify DG (dogging), RB, RI, and RA rigging HRWL classes via AI document analysis. RA encompasses all lower classes automatically. 5-year renewal. Results in under 24 hours.
Overview
Rigging and dogging licences in Australia are classes of the High Risk Work Licence (HRWL), issued by state WHS regulators and nationally recognised. The rigging and dogging HRWL classes form a hierarchy: DG (Dogging), RB (Basic Rigging), RI (Intermediate Rigging), and RA (Advanced Rigging). All rigging and dogging HRWLs are valid for 5 years and must be renewed before expiry.
The encompassment hierarchy is critical for rigging licence verification: RA encompasses RI, RB, and DG; RI encompasses RB and DG; RB encompasses DG. This means a worker holding an RA licence is qualified to perform any rigging or dogging work covered by RI, RB, or DG. Refchecks applies these encompassment rules automatically — giving employers a complete picture of what load-shifting work the worker is licensed to perform, not just the class code on the card.
Dogging (DG) covers the slinging of loads and directing crane operators. Basic rigging (RB) adds the rigging of gin poles, sheer legs, and basic rigging equipment. Intermediate rigging (RI) adds masts, towers, and guy wires. Advanced rigging (RA) encompasses all rigging types including drift pins, jacks, winches, and complex lifting operations. Correctly matching the class to the work scope is essential for WHS compliance on any site using cranes or lifting equipment.
What's Included
Construction sites using cranes, EWPs, and lifting equipment must verify rigging and dogging HRWL classes for all lift crew members. An incorrect class endorsement for the work being performed is a WHS breach.
Mine sites require riggers and doggers for all crane lifts and materials handling operations. HRWL class verification — with encompassment rules applied — is mandatory before any rigging work commences.
Crane hire and lifting companies must verify that all riggers and doggers in their employ hold current HRWL class endorsements appropriate to the type of lift being performed.
Labour hire agencies placing riggers and doggers must verify HRWL class and encompassment rules before dispatch. Host employers bear secondary liability if a placed worker's licence does not cover the scope of work.
Process
The candidate uploads photos of the front and back of their High Risk Work Licence card through the Refchecks portal. The card lists all endorsed HRWL classes including rigging and dogging.
Claude Vision extracts the licence number, holder name, issuing state, expiry date, and all endorsed HRWL classes — identifying DG, RB, RI, and/or RA endorsements.
The system automatically applies the rigging hierarchy: RA encompasses RI, RB, and DG; RI encompasses RB and DG; RB encompasses DG. The result shows the full scope of rigging and dogging work the worker is licensed to perform.
A structured result is returned showing the endorsed rigging class(es), encompassed classes, expiry date, and verification status — ready for the site's lift register and rigging records.
