Home building licences authorise residential building work in New South Wales under the Home Building Act. Businesses contracting for work hold a contractor licence, the qualified individuals who supervise the work hold a qualified supervisor certificate, and sole traders who both contract and supervise hold an endorsed contractor licence.
Who needs it
Builders and building trades contracting for residential building work in NSW above the licensing threshold — general building, carpentry, bricklaying, waterproofing, kitchen and bathroom renovation and many other trade categories — together with the supervisors responsible for that work.
